Diagnostic features
Stems usually much branched, decumbent to erect, to 1m, glabrous to hispid.
Fruit 1.2-3.5(4)cm, with seedless strongly flattened beak 4-11mm.

Chromosome number: (2n=22).

Habitat
Introduced-casual; infrequent casual, rarely persisting, on waste land.

Distribution
Scattered over Britain and Channel Islands; South Europe.

Note
Most or all plants are Eruca vesicaria subsp. sativa (Mill.) Thell., with sepals falling early and of which only the outer 2 are pouched at base; Eruca vesicaria subsp. vesicaria, with persistent sepals all pouched at base might sometimes occur.
