Diagnostic features
Perennial with ± woody base.
Stems to 35cm, decumbent, glandular-pubescent to well below inflorescence.
Sepals 4-4.5mm, about as long as petals.
Capsule 4.5-7mm.
Seeds not winged.

Chromosome number: 2n=36.

Habitat
Native; walls and rocky maritime places.

Distribution
Locally common on coasts of Channel Islands, Ireland, Wales, West England and Southwest Scotland.

Hybrids
- Spergularia rupicola x Spergularia marina has been found in mixed populations of the parents in Co Dublin, East Cornwall, Dorset and Pembs; it is a completely sterile vigorous floriferous perennial intermediate in morphological details.
