Erect ± pubescent perennial to 1m.
Flowers ± densely clustered in compact head.
Petal-limb scarlet, 2-lobed c.1/3 way to base.

Chromosome number: (2n=24, 48).

Habitat
Introduced-naturalized; much grown in gardens and escaping to rough and marginal ground.

Distribution
Casual and occasionally naturalized in South & Central Britain; Russia.
