Scientific name: Hypericum calycinum L.

Diagnostic features
Strongly rhizomatous glabrous evergreen shrub with erect little-branched 4-lined stems to 60cm.
Flowers 5-8cm across.
Spreads vegetatively but rarely sets seed.

Chromosome number: (2n=20).

Habitat
Introduced-naturalized; cultivated in gardens and mass planted in parks and on roadsides; naturalized on hedgebanks and in shrubberies usually near gardens.

Distribution
Scattered throughout most of Britain and Ireland, especially South; Turkeyand Bulgaria.
