Diagnostic features
Erect glabrous perennial with thin stems to 60cm.
Main stem-leaves triangular-ovate.
Flowers 12-18mm across.
Petals bright yellow, red-tinged on lowerside.
Black glands on sepals and petals stalked.

Chromosome number: 2n=18.

Habitat
Native; dry open woodland, hedgebanks and heathland, usually on acid soils.

Distribution
Locally common throughout British Isles.
