Diagnostic features
Annual or biennial with ascending to decumbent stems to 50cm.
Similar to Malva sylvestris but petals 10-12mm, less than 2x as long as sepals, pale mauve.

Chromosome number: (2n=42, c.64).

Habitat
Introduced-naturalized.

Distribution
Waste places, rather rare casual from wool and other sources, sometimes persisting; mainly South England, very rare elsewhere; South Europe.
