Diagnostic features
Usually less robust than Sedum rupestre; differs in sterile shoots with terminal tassel-like cluster of living leaves and persistent dead ones below.
Leaves flattened, abruptly apiculate.
Filaments and follicles smooth.
Sepals subacute to obtuse.

Chromosome number: 2n=c.90.

Habitat
Native; rocks and screes, either dry in open or wet in woods.

Distribution
Local in Wales and SouthwestEngland, also grown in gardens and naturalized as for Sedum rupestre.

Note
Populations differ in various characters but do not fit into 2 sspp. (subsp. forsterianum and subsp. elegans (Lej.) E.F. Warb.) as sometimes claimed.
