Diagnostic features
Stems to 6m, spreading.
Leaflets 3-13cm, lanceolate, acuminate, 2-serrate, ± glabrous to sparsely pubescent on lowerside with simple hairs in vein axils and sometimes more extensive stellate hairs.
Panicle 11-42cm, rather diffuse with widely spreading branches.
Style arising from well below apex of carpel.
Longest stamens nearly 2x as long as petals.

Chromosome number: (2n=36).

Habitat
Introduced-naturalized; grown in gardens and sometimes naturalized.

Distribution
Southeast England, Jersey; China.
