Scientific name: Aruncus dioicus (Walter) Fernald
Diagnostic features Stems to 2m, erect. Basal leaves to 1m, the leaflets ovate, sharply 2-serrate, glabrous or nearly so. Inflorescence up to 50cm, much-branched. Pedicels strongly recurved in fruit. Follicles glabrous.
Chromosome number: (2n=18).
Habitat Introduced-naturalized;much planted in gardens, very persistent in woodland and by water, but ± never seeding.
Distribution Scattered throughout England and Scotland, especially North; Europe.
