Scientific name: Kerria japonica (L.) DC.

Diagnostic features
Stems to 2.5m, erect, bright green above.
Leaves ovate to lanceolate, coarsely serrate, sparsely pubescent.
Flowers 2.5-5cm across, yellow.

Chromosome number: (2n=18).

Habitat
Introduced-naturalized; much grown in gardens, persistent in neglected shrubberies and old garden sites, usually as flore pleno, but self-sown in Middlesex.

Distribution
Very scattered in Britain, Man; China.
