Scientific name: Rubus phoenicolasius Maxim.

Diagnostic features
Stems to 2(3)m, erect and spreading, with dense reddish glandular bristles and sparse weak spines.
Leaves with 3(-5) ovate leaflets white-tomentose on lowerside.
Flowers several in racemes, pink, c.1cm across.
Fruit red.

Chromosome number: (2n=14).

Habitat
Introduced-naturalized; grown for ornament and fruit and naturalized in rough places and scrub.

Distribution
Scattered in South Britain, Lanarks; East Asia.

Hybrids
- Rubus x paxii Focke (= Rubus idaeus x Rubus phoenicolasius) was found in 1930 in South Lancs.
