Scientific name: Potentilla argentea L.

Diagnostic features
Perennial with decumbent to ascending stems to 30cm arising from leaf-rosette.
Leaves palmate with 5 leaflets white-tomentose on lowerside, with revolute margin visible from lowerside as narrow green edge.
Upper part of stem with dense woolly hairs.
Flowers in terminal cymes.
Petals yellow, 4-5mm, c. as long as sepals.
Achenes glabrous.

Chromosome number: 2n=14.

Habitat
Native; sandy grassland and waste ground.

Distribution
Local and decreasing in Channel Islands and Britain North to Central Scotland, common only in East England.
