Fragrant Agrimony

Scientific name: Agrimonia procera Wallr.

Diagnostic features
Differs from Agrimonia eupatoria in more leafy stems with ± all hairs 2mm or more.
More deeply and acutely serrate, less pubescent leaflets with abundant sessile glands on lowerside.
Fruiting hypanthium bell-shaped, with grooves extending less than3/4 way to apex and outermost bristles reflexed.

Chromosome number: 2n=56.

Habitat
Native; same habitats and distribution as Agrimonia eupatoria but much more scattered.

Hybrids
- Agrimonia x wirtgenii Asch. & Graebn. (= Agrimonia eupatoria x Agrimonia procera) is intermediate in indumentum (glands and hairs) and leaflet toothing; it does not form fruit. Chromosome number: 2n=42. It was found in the late 1940s in South Northumb, but other records have not been confirmed cytologically.
