Scientific name: Rosa ferruginea Vill.

Diagnostic features
Stems erect, to 3m, glabrous, with few prickles, with numerous acicles on suckers.
Leaflets ± flat, red-tinged, glabrous, 1-serrate, glandless.
Flowers (1)few-several, deep pink, 3-4.5cm across.
Fruit ellipsoid to subglobose, 1-1.8cm.

Chromosome number: (2n=28).

Habitat
Introduced-naturalized; much grown and naturalized via birds.

Distribution
Very scattered in Scotland, Man and England, but probably under-recorded; Central Europe.
