Scientific name: Prunus mahaleb L.

Diagnostic features
Deciduous shrub or small tree to 6(10)m.
Leaves 3-7cm, ovate to broadly so, rounded to subcordate at base.
Flowers up to 10 in subcorymbose racemes on pedicels up to 15mm.
Petals white.
Fruit up to 1cm, broadly ovoid, black.

Chromosome number: (2n=16).

Habitat
Introduced-naturalized; well naturalized by railways, in grassland and in woods.

Distribution
Several places in South England; South Europe.
