Scientific name: Pyrus cordata Desv.
Diagnostic features Spiny shrub to 8m. Leaves 1-4.5cm, ovate or broadly so. Fruits 8-20mm, globose or obovoid, brownish-red to blackish.
Chromosome number: (2n=34).
Habitat Probably native.
Distribution Two hedges near Plymouth (South Devon) (known since 1870), 3 sites near Truro (West Cornwall) (found 1989).
