Diagnostic features
Tree to 7m.
Leaves partially pinnate, differing from those of above 2 hybrids in having total of 7-9(10) pairs of lateral veins and 1(-2) pairs of broader ± overlapping free leaflets.
Styles 2-3.
Fruits scarlet, with few inconspicuous lenticels; fully fertile.

Chromosome number: 2n=51.

Habitat
Native; steep granite stream-bank.

Distribution
Glen Catacol in Arran (Clyde Is); endemic.
