Tree to 10m.
Leaves mostly oblong, subglabrous.
Fruit purplish-black, often not formed.

Habitat
Introduced-naturalized; on mainly sandy soils in woodland and scrub.

Distribution
Frequent in Southcentral & Southeast England, very sparsely scattered elsewhere in England, Wales and Jersey; North America.
