Diagnostic features
Deciduous to evergreen shrub to 8m.
Leaves 3.5-8cm, flat, sparsely pubescent on lowerside at maturity.
Inflorescences 15-30-flowered.
Anthers mauve.
Fruits dull red then dark purple, 6-10mm, broadly obovoid, with (1-)2 stones not showing at apex.

Habitat
Introduced-naturalized.

Distribution
At roadside in South Devon since 1985; Himalayas..
