Late Cotoneaster
Scientific name: Cotoneaster lacteus W.W. Sm.
Diagnostic features Evergreen, spreading shrub to 5m. Leaves 3.5-9cm, slightly shiny and with deeply impressed veins on upperside, tomentose on lowerside. Inflorescences more than 30-flowered. Anthers purplish-black. Fruits bright red to crimson-red, 5-6mm, ± globose, with 2 stones.
Habitat Introduced-naturalized.
Distribution Britain North to Central Scotland, planted as field-hedges in East Anglia; Southwest China.
