Fringed Cotoneaster
Scientific name: Cotoneaster marginatus (Loud.) Schltdl.
Diagnostic features Evergreen, erect to procumbent shrub to 3m. Differs from Cotoneaster microphyllus in leaves 10-25mm, ± matt on upperside, rather densely pubescent on lowerside, ciliate. Inflorescences 2-7-flowered. Flowers 8-10mm across. Fruits 8-10mm, with 2(-3) stones.
Chromosome number: (2n=68).
Habitat Introduced-naturalized.
Distribution Numerous sites in Britain North to Westmorland; Himalayas.
