Spiny shrub to 2(6)m.
Leaves 2-7cm, narrowly obovate to oblanceolate, with pubescent petioles.
Inflorescence-stalks pubescent.
Fruits globose to depressed-globose, yellow, orange or scarlet.

Chromosome number: (2n=34).

Habitat
Introduced-naturalized; very commonly grown and naturalized as bird-sown plantson banks and walls and in rough ground.

Distribution
Frequent in South & Central Britain; South Europe.
