Diagnostic features
Tree to 6m.
Spines 3-8cm, medium.
Leaves elliptic to obovate, doubly serrate, not lobed.
Fruits subglobose, c.10mm.

Chromosome number: (2n=51, 68).

Habitat
Introduced-naturalized.

Distribution
Formerly much planted and still naturalized in hedges in South & Central Britain, over-recorded for Crataegus persimilis; East North America.
