Scientific name: Crataegus succulenta Schrad.
Diagnostic features Tree to 6m. Spines 3-5cm, strong. Leaves broadly obovate to elliptic, doubly serrate, slightly lobed near apex. Fruits globose, 12-15mm.
Chromosome number: (2n=34, 51).
Habitat Introduced-naturalized; occasionally planted and rarely naturalized in woods and hedges.
Distribution South England; East North America.
