Diagnostic features
Differs from Vicia cracca in flowers (10)12-18mm, bluish-lilac to purple.
Limb of standard longer than claw.
Seeds with hilum 1/5-1/4 total circumference.

Chromosome number: (2n=24).

Habitat
Introduced-naturalized; in grassy places and rough ground.

Distribution
Scattered throughout most of England and Scotland, often only casual; Europe.

Note
Perhaps only a subspecies of Vicia cracca.
