Leaflets (3)5-9 pairs.
At least lower tendrils branched.
Flowers 2-6, 12-15mm, dull purple.
Fruits 20-35mm, 3-10-seeded.

Chromosome number: 2n=14.

Habitat
Native.

Distribution
Grassy places, hedges, scrub and wood-borders, rarely sand-dunes in Northwest Scotland and Northwest Ireland; throughout British Isles.
