Diagnostic features
Climbing annual to 60cm.
Leaflets 4-19 pairs.
Tendrils branched.
Flowers 1-4, 14-22mm, dirty brownish-yellow.
Fruits 20-35mm, 2-8-seeded, appressed-pubescent.

Chromosome number: (2n=12).

Habitat
Introduced-naturalized.

Distribution
Frequent casual in waste places and roadside banks in England and Wales, naturalized in West Kent since 1971; Europe.

Note
Naturalized and most casual plants are Vicia pannonica subsp. pannonica.
Vicia pannonica subsp. striata (M. Bieb.) Nyman, with purplish flowers, is a rare casual.
