Diagnostic features
Scrambling annual to 40(100)cm.
Stems not winged.
Leaves on mature plants reduced to simple tendril with leaf-like ovate-hastate stipules 6-50mm.
Flowers solitary, 10-13mm, yellow.

Chromosome number: 2n=14.

Habitat
Probably native; dry banks, grassy places and rough ground.

Distribution
Local in South & Southeast England and Channel Islands, casualin Britain North to Central Scotland, Ireland; Europe.
