Tree Lupin
Scientific name: Lupinus arboreus Sims
Diagnostic features Stems erect, much branched, to 2m, with rather sparse short hairs. Leaflets 5-10(12), mostly less than 6cm, oblanceolate to linear-oblanceolate. Lower lip of calyx 7-11mm. Corolla usually yellow, often blue-tinged, sometimes blue or whitish.
Chromosome number: (2n=40, 48).
Habitat Introduced-naturalized; garden escape naturalized in waste places and on maritime shingle or sand.
Distribution Very scattered mostly on coasts of Britain North to Central Scotland, South Ireland, Channel Islands; California.
