Scientific name: Gunnera tinctoria (Molina) Mirb.

Diagnostic features
Leaves up to 2m across, cordate at base.
Petioles up to 1.5m, with pale bristles and weak spines.
Inflorescences up to 1m, with stout branches less than 8cm.

Chromosome number: (2n=34).

Habitat
Introduced-naturalized; planted by lakes etc. and often self-sown where long-established.

Distribution
Naturalized in scattered places throughout much of lowland British Isles; Western South America.
