Brazilian Giant-rhubarb
Scientific name: Gunnera manicata Linden ex André
Diagnostic features Leaves often more than 2m across, peltate. Petioles up to 2m, with reddish bristles and spines. Inflorescences up to 1.2m, with slender branches more than 10cm.
Chromosome number: (2n=34).
Habitat Introduced-survivor; planted as for Gunnera tinctoria and fertile but not recorded as self-sown.
Distribution Scarcely naturalized but persistent throughout much of lowland British Isles; South Brazil.
