Diagnostic features
Glabrous, often purplish, annual with procumbent stems to 10cm.
Cyathia solitary in stem-forks and leaf-axils; capsules smooth, glabrous.
Seeds smooth.

Habitat
Native; on sandy or shingly beaches, probably extinct.

Distribution
Last record 1976 in Alderney; formerly in South Britain from East Kent to Cards, Waterford, Channel Islands.
