Scientific name: Euphorbia exigua L.

Diagnostic features
Glabrous erect annual to 20(30)cm.
Leaves linear to narrowly oblong, sessile, entire, ± glaucous.
Capsules smooth, with ridge on midline of each valve, glabrous.
Seeds closely rugose.

Chromosome number: 2n=24.

Habitat
Probably native; arable land, rarely elsewhere.

Distribution
Common in South & East England, scattered elsewhere in most of British Isles except North Scotland, perhaps introduced in Ireland.
