Diagnostic features
Differs from Euphorbia portlandica in more robust stems to 60cm.
Leaves more succulent, ovate-oblong, with midrib obscure on lowerside.
Capsules rugose-granulose.
Seeds smooth.

Chromosome number: 2n=16.

Habitat
Native; maritime sand-dunes, often with Euphorbia portlandica.

Distribution
Rather local on coasts of Ireland, Channel Islands and Britain North to West Norfolk and Wigtowns.

Hybrids
- Euphorbia portlandica x Euphorbia paralias has been found with both parents in Wales and Wexford; it is partially sterile and intermediate in leaf characters; endemic.
