Wild Angelica
Scientific name: Angelica sylvestris L.
Diagnostic features Stems erect, to 2.5m, often much less, usually somewhat purplish. Leaflets ovate, abruptly acute, closely and finely serrate. Peduncles and rays minutely pubescent. Petals white to pinkish-white. Fruits 4-5mm.
Chromosome number: 2n=22.
Habitat Native; damp grassy places, fens, marshes, by streams, ditches and ponds, in damp open woods.
Distribution Common throughout British Isles.
