Leafy-fruited Nightshade

Scientific name: Solanum sarachoides Sendtn.

Diagnostic features
Annual with erect to decumbent stems to 2m, to 60cm tall.
Differs from Solanum physalifolium in fruit green, ± fully enveloped by sepals.
Calyx-lobes 3mm or more in flower, more than 5mm in fruit, usually at least as long as berry.
Corolla-lobes 5-7mm wide.
Fruits with more than 50 seeds.

Chromosome number: 2n=24.

Habitat
Introduced-naturalized.

Distribution
Casual on tips and waste ground in South England, naturalized on tip at Dagenham, South Essex; South America.
