Diagnostic features
Stems to 2m.
Leaves mostly deeply 3-lobed, sometimes a few entire.
Sepals 15-30mm, corolla 2-4cm, usually blue when fresh.
Ovary 3-celled.
Stigma 3-lobed.

Chromosome number: (2n=30).

Habitat
Introduced-casual.

Distribution
Occurrence as for Ipomoea purpurea but less common; North America.

Note
The similar Ipomoea nil (L.) Roth, with corollas 5-7.5cm, has been much confused with Ipomoea hederacea and might occur in Britain.
