Diagnostic features
Rhizomatous.
Stems erect, to 1.2m, shortly pubescent.
Corolla 8-12mm, densely pubescent outside on upper lip.

Chromosome number: 2n=18.

Habitat
Introduced-naturalized; formerly grown medicinally, naturalized in waste places and waysides.

Distribution
Thinly scattered over much of British Isles, becoming scarcer; Europe.
