Red Hemp-nettle

Scientific name: Galeopsis angustifolia Ehrh. ex Hoffm.

Diagnostic features
Stems erect, to 50cm.
Leaves linear-lanceolate to narrowly ovate, rarely ovate.
Calyx 8-13mm.
Corolla 14-25mm, reddish-pink, rarely white.

Chromosome number: (2n=16).

Habitat
Native; arable land, open ground mostly on calcareous soils or maritime sand or shingle.

Distribution
Very scattered in Southcentral England North to Southeast Yorks, extinct in Scotland, Southwest England and most of North England and Wales, decreasing.
