Large-flowered Hemp-nettle

Scientific name: Galeopsis speciosa Mill.

Diagnostic features
Stems erect to ascending, to 1m.
Leaves ovate.
Calyx 12-17mm.
Corolla (22)27-35mm, yellow with purple blotch on lower lip (sometimes whole lower lip purplish).

Chromosome number: 2n=16.

Habitat
Native; arable land, often on peaty soil with root-crops, and waste places.

Distribution
Locally common in Central & North Britain and North Ireland, rare and scattered in South Britain and Central & South Ireland.
