Scientific name: Clinopodium acinos (L.) Kuntze

Diagnostic features
Usually annual.
Stems erect to decumbent, to 25cm.
Stem-leaves 5-15mm.
Calyx 4.5-7mm, with lower teeth 1.5-2.8mm.
Corolla 7-10mm, violet.

Chromosome number: 2n=18.

Habitat
Native; bare or rocky ground, arable fields on dry, usually calcareous soils.

Distribution
Rather local in Britain North to Central Scotland, sparse in North and decreasing there, very local (?introduced) in Central& Southeast Ireland.
