Scientific name: Salvia verbenaca L.
Diagnostic features Differs from Salvia pratensis in lower leaves often distinctly lobed. Longest hairs on calyx white, eglandular. Corolla corolla without or with few glandular hairs, open and 10-15mm, or cleistogamous and 6-12mm.
Chromosome number: 2n=54.
Habitat Native; dry grassy and barish rough ground, roadsides, dunes.
Distribution Rather frequent in South & East Britain North to Central Scotland, North Wales, South & East Ireland, Channel Islands, rare and decreasing in Central England.
