ZMA 56824 Click image for a larger version | Vulnerable A small pheasant occurring in (semi-) evergreen dry dipterocarp forest in S-C & S Vietnam and in neighbouring east Cambodia. Much of the lowland forest has been cleared here, and also hill forest is increasingly logged and disturbed. Though the species tolerates secondary forest, it suffers also heavily from direct exploitation by gunning and snaring, even in the few hill forests declared as reserve. Less than 10,000 birds occur in the patches of forest remaining within its original range of 36,000 km2.
